Katumba Culture Hub
We’re delighted to have recently refurbished and opened Katumba Culture Hub, a multi-purpose community arts and culture space right in the centre of Liverpool!
Katumba Culture Hub is a space where everybody is welcome! A place to build community, explore different activities, discover new passions, get healthier physically and mentally, and of course, have a great time!
Housed within John Archer Hall in the heart of Toxteth, Katumba Culture Hub delivers drumming workshops, cultural arts classes, activities and events for people of all ages.
Our weekly yoga classes are open to everybody – at an affordable price. Nobody is turned away for lack of funds.
Our diverse community band rehearses every Wednesday and Thursday evening. We have a new intake of drummers after our busy summer season, and run beginners classes throughout the year. Get in touch if you would like to be part of our Katumba family!
Katumba Culture Hub is available to hire for birthdays, conferences, workshops and other events. We also have a recording studio suitable for a range of creative projects. For any enquiries, get in touch here.
Family events bring adventurous participants of all ages together to drum and dance the day away in a welcoming and friendly environment.
Regular dance and live music night Festa Axé keeps true to its name: Axé (ashay), in Yoruba/Afro-Brazilian dialect means light, power and good vibrations! Brazilian ceildh, caprinhias, live music and more co-hosted by Katumba and Capoeira for All (CIC).
Katumba Culture Hub (known by our members as “Kasa Katumba”) was renovated from a run-down Victorian schoolhouse to a vibrant multi-purpose space in September 2018. The work would not have been possible without the support of Toxteth TV and efforts of Katumba community: over 50 wonderful people volunteered their time and skills to smash, build, paint, clean and create this fantastic space.
